He is better than that. He is intelligent psychopath. He is sadist, he will never kill like this again. --
He had intimate knowledge of Garrett Jacob Hobbs murders, motives, patterns; enough to recreate them and arguably elevate them to art.
Roles reversal AU
Dr. Alana Bloom as the Chesapeake Ripper; Dr. Bedelia du Maurier as a former psychiatrist turned FBI consultant.
Inspired by x.
The usually bright and strong lights of Dr. Bloom’s office are softer now, as she and Bedelia sit opposite to one another in the half darkness: she understands her need for it. Too much wine again to get through the last, exhausting briefing with Agent Crawford.
Her head hurts, but Alana keeps her smile on, always professional, doesn’t mention it and carries on like it doesn’t matter.
“What do you dream about when the forts in your mind are broken down, when the reins of your subconscious manage to escape your control?”
Bedelia takes a deep breath and looks around: everything is painfully reassuring, meant to make all patients relax and open to the gentle scrutiny of the good doctor. All patients, even her, who knows all the tricks and can see through every strategy.
She wants to lie again, her brain already starting to form standard answers that aim to throw Dr. Bloom off track, but…
But what would be the point? Her life is already half drown in the enraged river she fell in after her patient attacked her; it’s probably too late to put the pieces of the broken mirror she is back together. Alana Bloom is not a lifebelt, but it’s still the closest thing to it she met since then.
“I dream of becoming them, of losing who I am and transforming into the very monsters I am supposed to chase.”
“And how does that make you feel?”
There’s a light in Alana’s eyes that makes a shivers run along her spine, a thrill of excitement that passes from her to Bedelia in the blink of an eye; it stills her for a moment, makes her hold her breath.
“It makes me feel powerful and… reborn.”
Maybe it’s just the lights, maybe it’s an affect of the wine, but for a second, just a second, Bedelia sees Alana licks her lips and her usually gentle and warm eyes turn dangerous and cold and… wanting. Like a wolf’s.
